Preparation: Start by preparing a piece of EN8 steel by preheating it to the proper forging temperature. Depending on the size and shape of the workpiece, the exact temperature will vary, although it will normally fall between 900°C and 1200°C (1652°F and 2192°F) on average.

Heating: Warm the steel evenly to the desired forging temperature.

Forging: Using hammers, presses, or other forging tools, pressure is applied to the hot steel as it is placed on the anvil or into the forging machine to obtain the required shape. Up until the appropriate dimensions and qualities are reached, the steel is continually worked and formed.

Cooling: To avoid breaking due to quick cooling, the workpiece after forging may be allowed to cool gradually in an insulated container or furnace.

Heat Treatment: To obtain the appropriate hardness and mechanical qualities, the forged EN8 steel may be subjected to heat treatment procedures such as normalizing, annealing, quenching, and tempering.

Finishing: The workpiece may be machined or otherwise finished to fulfill the final dimensions and surface finish requirements after forging and heat treatment.
