1.2316 PLASTIC MOULD STEEL

In addition to having increased corrosion resistance, DIN 1.2316 is a chrome-molybdenum steel with high polishability, toughness, heat resistance, and wear-resistant qualities. It is frequently employed in instruments for processing plastic polymers that are chemically hostile (like PVC).

HEAT TREATMENT:

Heat treatment is not often necessary because the material has already been pre-toughened.

SOFT ANNEALING:

760 to 800 °C for about 4 to 5 hours; moderate, regulated cooling of 10 to 20 °C per hour to around 650 °C; further cooling in air, maximum 230 HB

HARDENING:

1030 to 1050 °C for hardening.

quenching in oil or water.

49 HRC is an attainable hardness.

TEMPERING:

Immediately following hardening, the material is slowly heated to the tempering temperature. 1 hour per 20 mm of component thickness is the minimum time spent in the furnace.

280 – 325 HB
(≈ 950 – 1100 N/mm²)

All types of silicon steel sheet and high-speed blanking dies are used to make moulds for pressing chemically hostile plastic compounds, among other things. precise die for stamping. forming die for cold extrusion. Moulds for cavitations, standard mould bases, compression moulds for SMC, blowing moulds, preform moulds for pets, and injection moulds for plastic piping and plumbing.
